School Programs

We provide a variety of programs to help students thrive, including Counseling Services, the Wellness Program, and Student Life Activities.
The Stanford OHS Wellness Program puts theory into practice through students’ active participation in five core SEL areas identified by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL.org): Self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, social awareness, and responsible decision-making.

A key component of the first-year program is the 1-1 connection and report students receive from their wellness coaches (instructors and staff members) who listen and guide students throughout the year. Students also engage and track their physical fitness.

In the second year of the Wellness Program, students engage in weekly group discussions in a designated wellness homeroom. Homeroom teachers may include some key messages regarding common wellness concerns at Stanford OHS such as sleep, managing workload, stress, physical activity, sense of belonging, well-being, and building community.

Student Life & Community

Our Student Life office offers a variety of ways for our students to come together with their peers and their instructors to build lasting relationships, providing the opportunity to practice many of the social and emotional competencies learned throughout the school year. Students participate in an array of clubs, in-person meetups, online assemblies, educational trips, and other in person and online events that continue to provide a space for students to grow and develop in community.

Wellness Courses

Students can elect to take credit-bearing courses in the area of wellness to delve deeper into topics related to their health and well-being. For example, in our "Design Your Life" course, students attend seminar-style discussions led by Stanford OHS staff and guest speakers from Stanford University partners to explore happiness, meaning, and personal values through student-centered activities such as compass-building and wayfinding.
