Part-Time & Single Course Applicants - Important to Note

  • An extended school day (6:00 am–10:00 pm Pacific Time, with most courses falling between 7:15 am and 8:00 pm Pacific Time) includes multiple course sections that allow part-time and single course students to blend their Stanford OHS courses into their schedules.
  • Due to the rigor of our courses, most students who attend another school full-time take only one course at Stanford OHS.
  • All enrolled students are surveyed about their time constraints. This information is utilized in building the Stanford OHS schedule.
  • All students can receive a Stanford OHS transcript for courses taken at the school. Students may request that these be sent to their local high schools or to any colleges or universities to which they apply.
  • How and in what manner Stanford OHS courses are awarded credit is determined by the local school’s policies. We recommend that you connect with your school to determine how Stanford OHS credit will be considered.
  • The enrollment status indicated on the application is not binding, and all applications receive the same evaluation.
  • Students are expected to be present and participate actively in each live class meeting for each discussion section in which the student is enrolled. Review our Policy on Attendance & Engagement.

Admissions Application Outcomes

Students admitted to Stanford OHS may be granted full or restricted enrollment status.

Full Admission

Students admitted to Stanford OHS may enroll each subsequent year without reapplying, may change enrollment status, and may take any course offered at the school contingent on placement.

Admission Restricted to Mathematics/Science or Humanities

Students may be admitted to take courses in only one subject area. Acceptance into courses outside that focus area in a subsequent year requires reapplication.

Admission Restricted to an Enrollment Status

Students may be restricted to part-time or single-course enrollment when the Admissions Committee believes that they may benefit from a reduced course load. Reapplication is required to change that status.

Admission Without Graduation

Students who apply to Stanford OHS late in their high-school careers may be unable to graduate from the school. The Admissions Committee may make this determination after an assessment of the student's academic record.
