About Me

Hi, I'm Rachel! I am currently a full-time student at Stanford OHS, and I also take extra courses at my public high school. Although I live in Michigan, I often travel around the U.S. for golf tournaments! Golf is a huge part of my life, I was only two years old when I picked up a club for the first time. Although known as a relatively boring sport, I have learned to love the beauty, hard work, and lifetime quality of the game. Outside of golf, I am involved in the Mental Health Awareness Club, Pixel Journal (the school magazine), UNICEF Club, Yearbook Club, and Girls Can Code at Stanford OHS. I also strive to be an advocate for many causes.

Why I Chose Stanford OHS

I chose to attend Stanford OHS because this institution offered a rigorous education, a vibrant community to thrive and learn, and flexible scheduling that met the demands of being a student-athlete. First, from the Core Sequence and advanced courses offered here, I knew I would be challenged as a student. Second, the selection of student-led clubs and the number of experienced teachers at Stanford OHS demonstrated a diverse and dynamic community at Stanford OHS. Finally, flexible scheduling also appealed to me as an athlete. I am a competitive golfer, and I found it hard to balance school, golf, and other extracurriculars with the long school hours at my brick and mortar school. By choosing to attend Stanford OHS, I now have the opportunity to invest more time into golf without sacrificing a rigorous education and being part of a vibrant school community.

What I Love About Stanford OHS

One thing I love about Stanford OHS the most is the community. First, the teachers are extremely helpful and kind. They assign meaningful homework (not just busywork) and are very helpful and responsive both inside and outside the classroom. In addition, the student body is also amazing. I always look forward to getting to know my peers in the classroom, during club meetings, and everywhere in between. I have found close friends which I would have never imagined to happen at an online school!
