About Me

I am a full-time junior from Cincinnati, OH at Stanford Online High School. I am deeply passionate about science, technology, medicine, and philosophy. In addition to being an Apple WWDC18 scholar, I have developed an app on the iOS App Store and have published a paper on Jupiter's synchrotron radiation in astrophysics through Stanford OHS’s Astronomy Research Seminar. Further, I am the Education Co-Head at Innoverge International, where I develop a new cutting-edge curriculum to expose and engage minority youth in interdisciplinary STEM workshops. In my free time, I enjoy pursuing neurological and philosophical research, playing percussion in a local orchestra and pep band, and conducting game nights with my friends. Moving forward, I am deeply excited to seek the convergence of biotechnology and philosophy in a scientific or engineering field where I can learn more about our world, impact those around me, and help inspire others to follow their passions towards the pursuit of Truth as well.

Why I Chose Stanford OHS

I applied to Stanford OHS in eighth grade wanting to find a community of people like me—people who love pursuing Truth for its own sake together. I joined as a single course student and went to Summer@Stanford before my freshman year started. There, I found my closest friends, and to this day I cannot believe I have only known them for two years. I quickly realized that despite my terrific private school background, Stanford OHS was an entirely different educational institution. As I moved more and more subjects to Stanford OHS, I noticed a profound improvement in weeks—my papers improved from pieces of writing to pieces of deep, philosophical argument, my mathematics quickly grew from not simply learning how to do something but understanding the inherent mathematical logic behind the computations. This improvement is not simply because Stanford OHS is challenging (though it very much is), but also because they bring a philosophical, argumentative, and conceptual understanding into each and every assignment. The analogy that works best, perhaps, is that Stanford OHS teaches each class as if you are majoring within them. All along the way, the Stanford OHS community has been supportive of my endeavors, as I have found they readily accept diverse perspectives with supported foundations and make class discussions more dynamic with their nuanced arguments. Overall the decision to apply to Stanford OHS was one of the best I have made in my life, as it not only engaged me academically but helped me find my place in the world.
