About Me
Hi, my name is Connie and I'm a freshman at Stanford OHS going into my third year. I enjoy reading (mostly philosophy and economics), writing, and dabbling in the sciences. Currently living in Canada, I try to go for runs outside in the beautiful nature a few times a week, and am also a ballet dancer and debater/public speaker. My goal in life is to take the knowledge I have gained at institutions such as Stanford OHS and turn it into resources that everyone can benefit from.
Why I Chose Stanford OHS
I applied to Stanford OHS because I was looking for a group of like-minded individuals to share my high school experience with. No longer satisfied with the sheltered and unrigorous learning journey at my local private school, I hoped Stanford OHS would help me push myself to develop my academic abilities while also fostering more sustainable study skills. It has done just that.
Returning to in-person school after a year of full-time, I am shocked to see not only how academically ahead of my classmates I am, but how easy it is for me to stay on top of a wide array of tasks while completing assignments quickly and efficiently. Stanford OHS also provided me with the flexibility to pursue my passion for dance and debate: with frequent travels for competitions and 40 hours of combined training a week, brick-and-mortar schools just weren't a sustainable option for me. Thanks to Stanford OHS, I am able to satisfy myself academically while also leaving a balanced lifestyle of athletic and extracurricular pursuits that I have the time to commit to.
What I Love About Stanford OHS
What I love most about Stanford OHS is its amazing and inclusive academic environment. My peers and teachers inspire me to excel everyday while also making me feel really comfortable in my own skin and not at all pressured to conform. I have connected with so many friends over behavioral economics and podcasts we both listen to, and even though it is an online school, the social environment here is unparalleled. When I'm struggling, I also find that there are so many resources designed to help me through it, from the WTC that I visit regularly, to instructor office hours for revising assignments or just chatting.
