Graduation Spotlight Backgorund

2024 Senior Spotlight

Alexandra MacRury

What are some accomplishments you are most proud of?
Moving past the barriers of the rural town I live in and reaching for the sky. What I mean by this is being accepted into Stanford Online High School, becoming a Junior Class President, Yearbook’s Editor-In-Chief, a Student Ambassador, co-founding STEAM: Problem Solvers, a Vice President of Stanford OHS’s Film Club, earning the title of co-manager of Pixelate, and participating in several clubs. Beyond this, I am proud of myself for applying to colleges despite how scared I was (or should I say, am). Regardless, I can’t wait to see what comes next!

What is your career goal?
I aspire to help children, whether as a pediatric psychiatrist or in an artistic medium such as theatre, and both my mom and Stanford OHS have supported me and my dreams.

What advice do you wish you could known at the start of your Stanford OHS journey?
It is well-known that Stanford OHS has a rigorous curriculum, a supportive and constantly building academic environment, in-depth learning and class discussions throughout the week, excellent instructors and staff who are always ready to provide support, and a large community of engagement with peers and instructors inside and outside of the online classroom. I wish I had attended office hours and gone to the Writing and Tutoring Center more in my first year, and I wish I could tell my past self not to be afraid to ask for help.
